Alicante:

Alicante is a coastal university city with an impressive tree lined promenade. One of its main attractions is its ancient mountaintop castle (Castillo De Santa Barbara) which the Carthaginians began to erect in 200 BC and was completed by Bourbon Monarchs in 18 BC. Castillo De Santa Barbara boasts panoramic views of the city and its exclusive harbour from where you can take a trip to the beautiful Balearic Islands.

Keen shoppers will revel in Alicante`s quaint boutiques and grand department stores and like many other towns on the Costa Blanca, Alicante also hosts an array of restaurants and bars that won’t break the budget so, should you fancy making a night of it, you’ll certainly find a bustling atmosphere here!

Elche and La Marina:

South West of Alicante, lies the inland city of Elche. As well as its prosperous leather industry, Elche is famous for its majestic palm trees. There are tow enchanting parks to visit here: El Palmeral containing 200,000 different specimens of palm and Huerta Del Cura with a wide variety of plants and trees from around the world!

Elche is steeped in History and houses and archaeological museum located on an excavation site where the “Dame De Elche” of the 4th century BC was discovered.

Some of the architecture in this city dates back to the 16th century such as the “Bascilica De Santa Maria” which is well worth a visit!

Just a short drive from the city of Elche, lies the urbanization of La Marina which is predominantly popular amongst the Brits. Close to the beach, with a strong community spirit and plenty of facilities, this is a great place to start a new life. Whether for retirement or bringing up your family, La Marina could be just what you’re looking for!

Guardamar:

Situated on the River Segura, the picturesque town of Guardamar is surrounded by rich farmland of orange and lemon groves, almond trees and various other crops. Its main attraction is its 11km stretch of natural golden sand with a backdrop of shady pine forest. The forest, originally planted to prevent the movement of the sand dunes, is now a beautiful nature reserve and is a popular place for cool walks and picnics.

You will find everything you need in Guardamar from ice cream parlours, restaurants, shops and bars to a wide variety of sports facilities including tennis courts, a large municipal pool and a well equipped sports complex.

Your will also sense a strong family atmosphere here in Guardamar, especially if you take an evening stroll along the tree lined promenade where the craft market and fun fair come to life!

Torrevieja:

Torrevieja is a cosmopolitan town hosting a wide variety of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and many local flamboyant fiestas! This town caters for all the family and you can take part in many activities such as: walking, snorkeling, swimming and horse riding. It is also worth knowing about the new cycle path which circles the Torrevieja salt lake.

You will find many clubs and societies in the area so you will not need to leave your hobbies behind: whether you take part in dance, drama, art and craft, tennis or bridge, this area has a great deal of choice!

Torrevieja’s fabulous Friday market is certainly not to be missed. It sells everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to housing accessories and gifts and if you want to make a day of it then why not “shop until you drop” in Torrevieja’s abundance of boutiques!

Perhaps you wish to simply relax and soak up the rays, then head for one of Torrevieja’s sandy white beaches which have been awarded with the EC’s “Blue Flag” so you can be assured of safe bathing and quality recreation for you and your family.

Orihuela Costa:

Popular amongst the Brits, you’ll really feel at home amid its English bars and Irish pubs. Here you will find all the comforts of a small town so you need not travel far and should you wish to go further a field, there’s a reliable bus service close at hand. Take advantage of the breathtaking coastal walks along this rugged coastline and remember golf is never far away.

With three golf courses already established and another in the pipeline you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice in the Villamartin area and if the rest of the family can’t abide golf then you need not fear, there are plenty of activities to pursue here, from horse-riding and go-carting to tennis and swimming.

With the coast just a 10 minute drive away, the popular pastime of basking in the golden sun to the sound of the lapping waves could prevail once in a while! As the sun sets you may wish to head for the infamous Villamartin square which boasts an abundance of bars and restaurants especially vibrant in the evenings!

Murcia:

You will sense a strong Moorish presence in the city of Murcia with its narrow winding streets, and beyond the city you will discover the efficient irrigation systems inspired by the Moors. However, one of Murcia’s principal attractions is its awe inspiring Cathedral. Its erection began in 1394 and influences from several artistic periods can be detected including the Renaissance and Gothic eras.

Murcia, commonly known as “La Huerta” or “The Market Garden” of Spain, is situated in the South West corner of the Iberian Peninsula. Its contrasting landscape sets the pine clad mountains of the “Sierra D’Espuna” against the nutricious Segura River Basin which nurtures the tasty produce of the area.

Campoverde:

Translated as “green fields”, this picturesque location has a certain “je ne sais quoi”. The village of Campoverde provides all the amenities you need. However, should you wish to take a trip to the nearby coastal town of Torre De Horadada, there’s a good bus service from the village to take you there in just 10 minutes!

If you enjoy exploring the countryside then the “Parque Naturel De Rio Seco” is right on your doorstep for a pleasant ramble!

The Mar Menor:

It’s not just the history of Mucia that attracts many visitors to this region, it also boasts a spectacular coastline and one of the most famous of its stretches is “The La Manga Strip”. This unique up and coming area situated on the Costa Calida or The Warm Coast is an ideal location for sea lovers and with the Mar Menor on one side and the Mediterranean on the other it almost feels like an island.

La Manga has something for everyone: for those who wish to bask in the sun, for those who are hungry for action and want to partake in its abundance of water sport activities such as water skiing, fishing and scuba diving, and for those keen golfers who can make the most of La Manga’s famous Golf and County Club!

As the sun sets over the horizon, you can enjoy the serenity of the scene over a glass of wine before heading to the vibrant atmosphere of the La Manga bars and restaurants. Or, feel free to linger and be hypnotised by the lights shimmering over the mill pond, The Mar Menor.

Spanish Villages:

Just fifteen minutes drive from the bustling coastal towns of the Costa Blanca, several charming pueblos rise amidst the fertile river basin of orange and lemon groves at the foot of the mystical mountains of Sierra de Callosa.
